Переддень Різдва… Надвечір’я… Дивлюсь у вечірнє небо, темне,
мов воронове крило…Тиша огортає кожен закуток… І всюди витає якийсь таємничий
дух… Минають хвилини, і на вечірньому небі спалахує перша зірка, мабуть
найяскравіша з тих, які я будь-коли бачила… І починається дійство…
Christmas
Eve….Twilight…. I look into the night sky,
so dark, like a raven’s wing… Silence envelops every nook and cranny…
And everywhere is a mysterious spirit …. The minutes pass, and the first star
lights up in the night sky, probably the brightest star I have ever seen… And
action begins….
Уся родина сідає за стіл, вкритий білою скатертиною, де уже стоять 12 пісних страв, що символізують 12 апостолів Ісуса Христа. Серед них обов'язково кутя і узвар, а також борщ, риба, вареники з капустою і квасолею, картопля, гриби. Посеред столу - свіча як символ Христа. Помолившись, усі сідають до столу.
The whole family sits down around the table, which is covered with white cloth and served with 12 meatless dishes as a symbol of 12 apostles of Jesus Christ. There are kutia (a sweet grain pudding as the main attribute of Holy Meal) and uzvar (traditional Christmas compote), and also borscht, fish, varenyky, potatoes, mushrooms. The candle stands in the middle of the table symbolizing Christ the Light of the World. After prayer, all sit down around the table to have Christmas Eve Supper.
Найчарівніше у всьому Різдвяному дійстві - колядки. А ось і вони - гурт хлопчаків, що ідуть від хати до хати сповіщати радісну новину - народження Ісуса Христа.
The most
wonderful in the whole Christmas action – carols. And here they are – “kolyadnyky”
– the group of boys, that goes from house to house to tell the merry new –
birth of Jesus Christ.
Тож давайте послухаємо, як колядують у деяких країнах світу.
Пропоную одну з моїх найулюбленіших колядок – «Тиха ніч».
